hello everyone!! i hope that everyone is having a great week! This week, nothing huge had happened and I didn't know what crazy story i was going to write home about.. and then yesterday happened! I don't know why I doubted Andong.
So, this is an above ground swimming pool. Stretched over 5 tables that were laid on their sides. We filled it with a legitimate firehose hooked up to the bathroom sink. And it stayed in the kitchen. So our church is on the 5th floor of a building on the main street of Andong and we had a full-sized swimming pool in our kitchen. We had to have one person sitting on each table leg because the tables that it was stretched over were going to flip up. and we didn't have time to fill it all the way, or even halfway because no one thought of that.. ahah ^^ so there were two boys that were getting baptized. each one of grabbed the inside of the pool and right after the prayer, one of the elders counted to three and we all lifted up. it was super heavy! literally, a branch effort to baptize these boys! hahah so when we lifted up the sides, the water level rose just enough to dunk the boys all the way under. It was so crazy. hahah
and we also 전도 with the elders last night. it went really good! on the way home, there was a cat in a tree. Well our District Leader, who doesnt like animals at all, hands me his backpack, followed by his sweater, then his scarf, then his suit coat. he takes off his shoes, and his socks, and climbs the tree. but it was one of those trees where it is just thin and smooth until it is higher up, so he shimmied all the way up! yesterday was crazy man. ^^
So, I am continually learning a lot. And it is awesome. In PMG in the baptism section, there is a sentence that i studied this week. After we are baptized, "We then begin a new spiritual life as disciples of Christ." 3 Nephi 5:13 is a scripture that we recite every single morning. We are all disciples of Christ. Not just the ones who were set apart and are serving away from home. Every single member of the church is a disciple of Christ. It is cool to think about. In transfer meeting, one of the elders going home said "these two years are the intensive training for the rest of my life as a missionary." we never stop! ^^
I hope that you all have a great week! Next week may not be as exciting! ^^
